TOP TEN CBD QUESTIONS

CBD is well on its way to becoming a household name; however, there is still some confusion (and a fair bit of stigma) surrounding it. What can I use it for? Is it expensive? Heck, is it even legal? We hold the answers to your ten most burning CBD questions…

  1. What is the Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana?

The short answer: One is generally legal, and one is generally not!

The longer answer: One will get you high because it contains a chemical called THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the part of the Cannabis plant that produces a high. CBD usually contains less than 0.2% THC (not enough to get a person high!), therefore the benefits of the plant are exclusively medicinal.

  1. Is CBD Legal?

The short answer: Generally, yes…

The longer answer: CBD is generally legally available almost everywhere in the world; however, there are often different rules about usage and dosage. If travelling internationally, it is wise to check the country’s CBD laws if you wish to carry any CBD products. A full list of the countries where CBD is (and is not) legal can be found here .

  1. What Exactly is CBD & What Does it Stand For?

The short answer: CBD is medical Cannabis.

The longer answer: CBD stands for ‘Cannabidiol’ and it is a phytocannabinoid. It is one of 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants, along with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract.

  1. Will I Get High if I Take CBD?

The short answer: No.

The longer answer: Also, no. CBD does not contain enough THC to produce a high, even if taken in large quantities (not recommended for other reasons). If it was able to produce a high, it would be illegal.

  1. Will CBD Cause Me to Fail a Drug Test?

The short answer: Generally, no, but…

The longer answer: With a urine drug test, THC must be present at a concentration of 50 nanograms per millilitre to trigger a positive test (a nanogram is approximately one-billionth of a gram.) With a blood test, a THC blood concentration of 1, 2, or 5 ng/mL suggests “impairment”.

It is advisable to always purchase CBD products from a reputable supplier.

  1. How do I Know What I’m Getting?

The short answer: All should be revealed on the label of the product.

The longer answer: Any retailer that sells CBD products should have conducted plenty of research on medical marijuana, and will follow the national guidelines regarding quality, safety, and ethical sourcing.

If ever in doubt, your GP should be able to point you in the direction of a trusted brand/supplier.

  1. How is CBD Taken?

The short answer: It depends on what you’re using it for.

The longer answer: CBD comes in a multitude of products (droplets, vape mist, gummies, balms, – to name but a few).

However you choose to administer the product depends entirely on what you wish to achieve by using it. For physical pain (arthritis, sports injuries, etc) topical CBD in the form of lotions or balms is recommended. For other issues, such as anxiety or stress, oral intake is advised. For quick relief, inhaling CBD vape mist will provide the desired results in the quickest form.

  1. How Will I Know How Much to Take?

The short answer: Ask your GP.

The longer answer: Again, it depends on what you wish to use CBD for. It is always recommended to start at a lower dosage and move towards a higher dose over time. When in doubt, your GP will advise.

  1. Is CBD Expensive?

The short answer: It can be.

The longer answer: There’s no other way to put it other than – you get what you pay for. If you want good-quality, reputably sourced CBD products, they will be on the higher end of the price spectrum. BUT – CBD in all its forms is potent, and a little goes a long way. Your product will last (if stored correctly), so your money will be well-spent.

  1. Is CBD Right for Me?

The short answer: Very likely!

The longer answer: It depends on what you are afflicted by, but CBD has numerous medicinal benefits that cover a large spectrum of physical and mental issues, and it’s very likely that you will find a CBD product that will help you.
